I Obtained This M1 Stock

This stock apparently originated from the CMP, due to the mailing label, instructions, and cartouche. However, I've not been able to gather any information about it.

The walnut stock has been inletted for glass bedding, but it apparently has never been fitted to a rifle as it has a lot of wood left.

I would appreciate any information anyone would be able to provide me.

The link worked for me. The stock is a CMP NM that has the inlets for glass bedding. CMP sells them. Not really a big mystery. Nice looking stock too

Slide show worked here too. You are going to have to undertake bedding this stock now. You have to at least fill in the bedding grooves and it must be done right or you'll do more damage to accuracy than good. The rest of the stock, I'd sand it until I had the fit I like, which is more like the WW2 stocks. More slim and sleek looking. It will require a bit of sanding, and after that you choose a sealing compound (oils). There are pages of that subject here for your information. I simply won't re-hash them. Lots of choices. Nice stock too. It's going to come up about perfect.

The slide show works fine now. The problem was with Photobucket, which has had terrible problems with their latest release.

You requested information on the stock, but didn't say if you plan to use it, or if you just want to know what it is to sell it. If you are building an accurate rifle & are willing to do a lot of work, fine; but, for a "shooter", you may not want to commit to the effort. This is not a "USGI" stock, it is a commercial Boyd's stock that was ordered "oversize" by CMP for sale to folks building "match" rifles.
