A bit OTS of the photo. While watching a documentary on the PTO WWII in observance of Memorial day I could have sworn I saw a clip of an M-1 firing full auto. Was this my imagination or is there some sort of malfunction that could cause full auto fire?

I saw the same clip some years back. There were two I saw, on ETO, one PTO. I would suggest both rifles had been modified by their owners. This would not be the first I had heard about this mod being done. Just remove part of the top of the hooks on the hammer and she runs...I wouldn't do it mind...

They usually hang up on the third round, often a stovepipe.

Makes sense, the system wasn't designed for that.

Thanks! I thought I had lost my mind. I DVRed the documentary so I was able to re run and freeze the segment and it sure looked like he ran thru a clip with one pull.

The one I remember I think was two bursts. Can't remember the other one. But, like Bob says, I doubt it worked very well. I wouldn't count on it. It WOULD be slam firing after all.
