    Need a scope & mounts for No.4 Mk. 1 (T)

I recently purchased a No. 4 Mk. 1 (T) Less Scope, although it has a serial number for one stamped on the wrist, but it apparently got disconnected sometime since 1943, when the rifle was manufactured. Has anyone had any experience with the Scope/Mounts kits from Numrich, Sarco or IMA? Does anyone have any other suggestions on where to look? Thanks in advance. Andy

Go and buy a bracket from Roger Payneicon who operates out of this forum.. He supplied the UKicon MoD with a largish quantity as spare parts prior to the L42 being declared obsolete. Then a) they'll be good and b) hardly what I'd call repro either!

THEN, save your money and look for a genuine but beat-up Mk1 or 2 No32 scope that is easily repairable by the many telescope repairers worldwide. Read up on this site about them first followed by a selection of books relating to them from Brian at BDLicon Ltd who also advertises on this very site.

But next, a word of advice........ Do not, under any circumstances whatsoever buy a cheapo repro fake coipy of the telescope currently being offered. They are pure XXXX of the highest order, made of xxxxx material and xxxxx quality that wouldn't xxxxxxx in a xxxxx of xxxxx with a xxxxx. You get my drift

    DPL,
Thanks very much indeed for the endorsement. Actually, I am without brackets temporarily as I am waiting for the machinists to do the latest batch of castings. You know how it is; a 'little job' (to them anyway) so it goes to the bottom of the pile. Consequently it may be 2 or 3 months before I have some ready to sell - However, they ARE on their way!

So while waiting for one Rogers brackets it gives you some time to look out for a Mk 1, 2 or 3 scope on ebay etc, prices vary between the Mk,s but expect to pay around £600- £750 for a Mk1 or Mk2 in average condition, and anything from £800 + for a Mk 111.
A Mk111 with original bracket went for £1200 last week.

    first post!

this thread just broke my heart. found a suitable donor rifle that is grouping good at 100 yards with iron sights and PMC ammo. junk ammo.

i want a enfield (t) sniper rifle but i do not want to put 5 grand in to it.

i was looking at those numrich replicas, everyone here says they are sh!t. so now i have to find an original...... does anyone in the states do the mounting for the scope bracket that knows what they are doing?

i read peter's build on a replica (t) and that is not something i want to try on my own.

roger ,could you contact me here once you have new brackets in?

Sorry, I don't do reproduction No.4T's. I only work on originals. There's a gunsmith in Florida who I'd trust to do one as he's done a few with satisfactory results. Contact me directly for his info if interested.

    Hi Mr Bungle,
Thanks. I will try to remember to drop you a pm when the brackets arrive, but my memory is notoriously like a sieve, so it might be worth your while pm-ing me in a couple of months & I will then gladly update you.

    Best.

    R.
