    No4 Mk1 Hard Extraction

Extracting empty cartridges out of my No4 Mk1 seems a hole lot more stiff compared to my Mosin Nagant. is this normal ?
There is no pitting in the chamber it is clean as a whistle. I've been using Winchester Super-X i havent tried any other brand of ammo yet. Could the winchester ammo have anything to do with hard extration ?

Agree with Muffer..... Easy way to check this is to try live firing and extracting some other types of ammo

Try a harder case, either milsurp ammo or HXP brass

SVT-40: Out of curiosity, what is ammo availability like on your side of the country? Lot of bare shelves in Calgary. I normally buy Remington 174gr MC (.303) at a local sporting goods supermarket type place but nothing there last time I made the hour round-trip drive. This Remington stuff works well in everything I've got including a Martini-Enfield which has pretty poor extraction power. Next I'm going to try some PRVI FMJ which I found available in BC with virtually free shipping to Calgary. Have found their 7.62x54 to be excellent and reasonably priced.

303 Brit is also hard to find around here as well, the only source i have withing a 50 km range is Canadianicon Tire stores . they hold Wimchester, Hornady and Remington in that calibre.

Personally like Privi as the brass seems to be good quality and then I reload after that without experiencing any problem "yet".
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
