I think this was asked a while back but I don't remember if it got an answer or not nor do I remember which thread it was in. The question had to do with fitting a mismatched No.4T scope bracket from one rifle to another. As an example I have a No.4T with mismatched scope/bracket, after centering the grat and mounting it on the rifle with all screws done up tight I have to move the aiming post 14 MOA left in order for it to line up with the center line of the bore @ 28 feet. How would an armourer correct this?

A few clicks left and right would be perfectly acceptable but 14 would be out of the question. The short answer is that you have to adjust the tele bracket to bring it over. And that's why all these experts tell you that the brackets fit any rifle. Well, they MIGHT. But they've got to collimate the telescope too!

Care to elaborate on adjusting the bracket? Don't forget that I'm just an enthusiastic amateur at this sort of thing.

The reason I didn't elaborate earlier is BECAUSE I realise that you are just an amateur - but an honest one!

One day I'll go through it. But don't think it's going to be a quick file-and-fix!

Peter, I can partly understand your reluctance to go into detail. But do you really believe holding back will save any innocent defenseless rifles from being mauled to death by an amateur whose ego won't let him admit when he's in over his head? I doubt it.
FWIW, and it it'll help you rest any easier, I intended to enlist the services of a professional Enfield mechanic from right here in S.C. that as I understand it learnt a few tricks of the trade from you. However I see he's already belly aching cause his hands hurt just thinking about it. What a weenie. It's hard to find good help these days............

I'm curious as to which way the windage is off. One ought to be "easier" to sort than the other. "Easy" being a relative term!

Muffet, you should really be careful about what you say. That information could be very dangerous if it were to fall into the hands of one of us over enthusiastic dumb arse amateurs. Ya never know when one of us is listening.................
