    M 1 Bayonet ?

Attachment 44483Attachment 44482Attachment 44480Attachment 44481I have a short M1icon Bayonet, but it is shorter than the M1's in my collection. Maybe someone can help me id this bayonet? There is no makers marks, Blade is 6-1/2" not 10". Overall Length is 11-1/8" not 14-1/2". The bayonet is not the M1 Shortened.

They shortened and ground them down to use the M8A1 scabbard. Yes, I think it was Korea...Carl will have the answer... Bayonets by country

    Thanks

Thank you for the information. This maybe a KM1 I looked at the page you gave me Jim and it looks like them except the blade. The Fuller is very crude on the KM1 and my blade is milled. If you look at the fuller on both bayonets you will see what I mean. Thanks again both of you for your help.

This could be a conversion from the m3 to the m7. this website may help.

It's Korean and the differences between the various job lots done in Korea were legion. The crossguard variation on yours is one of the most common.

These were once quite common and very inexpensive. They have been drying up since many have been broken up for the grips and lock parts that many have used to restore WW2/Korean War issued M1905 and M1icon bayonets.

It is a Korean cut down M1icon or M1905 bayonet. The NSN for it calls it a M5, which it is not.
