1st M1 Carbine

Just got her in today for my son. Can anyone enlighten me what I have? Not too critical as far as a collector goes as I bought her for her bore as its in excellent condition.

Though I believe the mag pouch is a reproduction.

Yeah the pouch is a repro. She seems to function perfectly tho the real test will come tomorrow when I take her outdoors.

Question: Is the slide suppose to have some play in it? It seems rather loose.

They all are. Don't worry about that. This little carbine will be fine.

Sloppy slides and sloppy trigger housings are normal. You've got a nice post WWII rebuilt carbine there. I think that if it were mine, I'd leave it just as it is.

Oh I am. Thought about replacing the top handguard but decided against it for now. My son loves it the way it is.

That is a nice photo of your boy aiming. I'd keep that is a scrapbook.

I know exactly how he feels in that first pic. About that age, it was a Remington 34 in .22. I still have it.
