    Value of MK I MH

I just picked up this rifle. Serial number is 57xx, condition is amazing but butt sling swivel is missing. Just looking for some idea of value.

Given their rarity and desirability among collectors, they show up infrequently at major auctions (one way to index relative "value"). Because of this rarity it is very hard to establish a steady "value" for a Canadianicon Mark I. I've seen three go at auctions in the past six months - one for $370 Canadian, one around $3,000 Canadian, and one in a mixed lot of five guns for around $3,000 U.S.....all which doesn't really help. Generally, $1,500 seems a reasonable starting point and one has to factor in condition and competition from there. In other words, the $370 and the $3,000 were both likely anomalies, but real enough in context (the former, lack of competition and the latter, too much competition and some deep pockets).

The one you have is a beaut, and appears to retain its original protector. Congratulations on such a rare find!

Has the hole where the butt swivel was originally fitted been filled in, or is it just open? I picked up a Mk I recently, stock not in as nice shape as yours, and the butt swivel is missing on it too, with the hole filled in.

    Very nice rifle there! Congratulations.

Just a screw hole now. I know most were removed and the hole plugged but I am pretty sure this was one of the Canadianicon contract guns that avoided all the upgrades. I am sure I could find a swivel somewhere.

    Beautiful rifle, JamesB.

If those pictures were taken fresh from a return from Central Alberta, you truly scored with that one. :-)
