1903 smle

I found this most unusual SMLE the other day and I was intrigued because I have never seen this conversion before. It did not come cheap but I had to have it . I already have a 1903 mk1*** in my collection but never have I seen a 1903 mk1 converted to mk111. My first and only thought is that it when through the LOC 13992 (1907) charge loading program.
I have uploaded some photo’s, you will see that on the left hand side are armourser’s date makes 04 05 06b 07 and the last date 09 as you see in the photo. Now that I have paid top dollar for it everyone will now have one.

I have no idea why Milsurps web-program will not expand these photo’s.

paulp: When I save those images and try to blow them up there appears to be limited resolution. Did you take them with a camera having image quality set very low? Try a setting that generates an image of around 100- 300kb. Are you using the "manage attachments" button and uploading from your hard-drive?

Very Rare Early Production 1903 Dated Deactivated Old Spec SMLE - Allied Deactivated Guns - Deactivated Guns

It was discussed on another forum and the only thoughts were that it was one of the surplus bodies used to assemble complete rifles in WW1, just like some of the Long Lee bodies used to assemble Mk3s.

Shame its been deactivated but still a cool rifle

" as those tend to be marked (as in my example) with the date of conversion/build ie 1916, the last date on the left '09 is in fact C9 & is an inspectors number & not a date.
Would not say no to it being in my collection.
