Lithgow Small Arms Factory gun rack

Hi all,

I pick up an original Lithgow Small Arms Factory gun rack today, I thought those of you that have not seen one might like to have a look at a bit of Australian small arms history.

First photo is it empty of course. In the second photo I partially filled it it with a selection of my Lithgow's and a Long Branch No 4 mk 1 and a BSA .22 trainer. It holds 20 rifles in total.

I know another member has one that has been restored unsure yet if I will restore it or leave it as is.

We were still using racks identical to this in our big workshops until I last saw them last August or so. Absolutely identical. Maybe there was a set pattern. Now used for GPMG's et-al. Even still in the yellow colour

I would say its more than partially filled in photo 2, nice collection.

All of the rifles except for two are Lithgow's. The Lithgow actions are dated 1916, 1919, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1935 x 2, 1936, 1937, 1940, 1942 and 1953.

Fantastic rack and collection. Great piece of unique history.

Reckon I would leave the rack as is, that's how it left the factory, so to speak.

I think I will leave it as is. Even if I wanted to restore it, I don't have the time at the moment to do a proper job on it.
