    first post and I just wanted to post here because I collect k98's and other ww2 rifles.
    this is my bsw39 with matching no's

    lovely. stock has been sanded, but not to an horrendous amount. rare code as well.

    It may be my iPad but I see no evidence of sanding. Are you talking about the vertical lines on the butt?

    that's a walnut stock. it is far lighter than it should be. here's my walnut stocked 98k

    I wouldn't say it's sanded because it's lighter. Lots of things can effect the color such as, oil, dirt, storage conditions and maintenance over the life of the rifle. I can't see any tell tale signs of sanding like rounded corners or micro scratches.

    i'm certain it's sanded, but a close up shot of the waffenamts on the stock would prove either way.

    it does not look sanded to me but I could be wrong, i do think the stock may have been cleaned some at some time or another.

    i'll eat crow on saying "sanded". it has been cleaned but not with sanding.
