    Blimey ridiculous

Is it just me or are the prices of certain rifles that certain Rifle Companies/individuals are going into the realms of fantasy land in their asking prices??

Let me elaborate and vent my spleen..........only 767 Enforcers on the market as of today, which has been confirmed many times by many educated minds for a rough selling price of £1000-1500.

Then comes along the L42A1 with far greater numbers in circulation, and suddenly we are being asked to fork out £7500+ in the UKicon and $10K in the States, when IMO the Enforcer is a far better rifle!!!

My dilemma is, then how is it, that a "proper" 4T with full CES only conjures up about £4500 on average and is older and invariably covered WW2 admirably, and was the basis for all this updating in the first place??

I won't accept, its what people are willing to pay for it as an answer, so in short I am sightly confused and a bit perplexed, but I am sure someone will have the REAL answer or is it just me being belligerent???

L42a1s are far scarcer than No.4 Mk.I(T) rifles. They were the last of the L-E rifles in service with the Britishicon military (and often in "elite" units), and recently enough that many people have memories of the areas of conflict in which they were fielded. (First hand or via the news.) Like it or not, the Enforcers were primarily civilian police issue, which just doesn't draw anywhere near the same interest. And so on.

Collector values have almost nothing to do with intrinsic utility value!

Thanks for that explanation which makes real sense, but the rifle just isn't worth over £7000+ without any provenance in my view, and it appears a lot of dealers are going over the top. I suppose I have to be pragmatic in this and say good luck to them if they can get it, but it is a crazy state of affairs.

BTW, the number of L42a1s built isn't very much more than the "767" number of Enforcers.
