    1952 LC .30 carbine brass

    Fellows:

have any of you had difficulties with LC .30 carbine brass being hard to de-prime? I bought a bag of 100 M1icon C brass, and 53 of these were LC 52.

When I tried to deprime the 1952 LCs, the primer pushed out with difficulty, tearing a rectangular opening adjacent to both sides of the flash hole, almost like a key slot. I stopped .

I have never had this experience with any other brass, including 40s & other than 1952 LC brass.

Has anyone here had a similar experience? Was there a solution? I'd have to have to chuck 50+ cases if I dont have to.

What you've described may be the result of punching out the anvil of a Berdan-primed case. Did you look inside before the depriming attempt? There are many reports of Chinese-produced .30 Carbine ammunition - copied right down to the LC 52 headstamp, but Berdan primed. Perhaps you have found some of these.

Definitely not Berdan, there is a centered flash hole.

Look again at it real close. Look to the side of the center hole for two very small ones. The center of the Chinese cases looks like it's a Boxer primer set up but it's not as it is Berdan and I bet that is what you really have. The LC 52 is the only Chinese fake brass around.

I think these guys are right too. If you don't have a bright light, the Berdan will look like a flash hole. The symptom you describe is exactly what happens...
