    Sling question

I've found one of the war time expedient slings made from linen. It looks to be in good condition but the thing that gives me pause is a large "Made in Englandicon" ink stamp on the cloth. I'm thinking that this mark was not present while it was in British service, but stamped for export sale. Am I correct?

Yes. Don't quote me but I think the country of origin stamp was required for import to the USAicon starting in the 1930's. It became a country of manufacture mark on firearms after the Gun Control Act of 1968 was put in place.
