Probably the smallest man among the troops of U.S. 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, 19-year-old U.S. Army Pvt. Wayne Nassi, a former jockey, is photographed readying for the Battle of Los Negros Island of the Admiralty Islands Campaign. Nassi was 4’ 10” (1.47 m) and weighed a mere 98 lbs. (44.4kg) when he entered the Army. Admiralty Islands, Papua New Guinea. February 1944.
