I need magazine spring rivets! Where to buy?

Pulled out the trusty Longbranch and noticed a weak spring tension loading the mag. Took it apart to find a busted spring. Spring shouldn't be a problem, but I have never seen the little rivets offered for sale anywhere

Please, someone let me know where to buy these. I need two, but it wouldn't hurt to have a few laying around.

Surely you'd be better off and it'll be far easier to get a complete spring and platform assembly. The parts list shows a spring, rivets and platform but they were never available separately. As I always tell, the parts list was just a list of parts and noit a list of AVAILABLE parts

  3. Thank You to Peter Laidler For This Useful Post:

What's happened to you isn't new. I've supplies a few springs only to individuals like Peter says in the past. Alas, they have depleted.

I have new springs. The complete assembly not available from anywhere I have checked. I may just have to spot weld it or make the rivets myself, but I would much rather just buy them. But, from what Peter says, they may not be available anywhere.

Small rivets shouldn't be a mystery to find. Try an automotive warehouse.

Magazine spring rivets were available separately at some stage it seems, I've just opened this box, label states Rivets, Springs, Rifles No1 and No4. Qty 4ozs. Date stamp in red is Aug 49. These rivets are the ones used to attach the mag spring to the follower.

Not to us they weren't! The mag platform came to us as a costed sub assembly. Ours were always issued in what we used to call UOI or Unit of Issue, such as packs of 5 or 10 and so on. Only things like nails or other G1 items came in ounces or pounds weight

I think these were a what we used to call a 'factory pack' as supplied to the factory by the sub contractors. You'd occasionally get No4 parts like this, in the white, such as (I remember....) butt plate screws or sling loops and loads of Sten bits still in the white that were diverted into Ordnance. But it could be anything really. Just saying that I never saw small stuff like this where it was economic to repair, say, 30 magazine back-straps - but anyway.........
