Plumb Bolo knife Advice

I recently aquired a Plumb Bolo 1917 knife in a trade. It's kind of been beat to crap but I'm in the process of making it presentable again, getting the bends out of it and oiling the hand guard. The issue I have with it is that sometime in the past it was put on a grinding wheel to sharpen it. The marks are pretty bad in some places. As it is a knife, it probably would be sharpened in the normal course of its life. Should I polish the grinder marks out of it or let it alone. The blade has a pretty old looking patina. This was done a long time ago. Polishing it is going to put a shine on the edge. The guy who had it before me used if for years to chop down corn stalks in his garden.

The grinding can be removed with paper on a file or a flat bar. It may make it shine more but you could remove the shine with Muriatic acid...also all rust and dark marks...and your sinuses...or you can leave it. Another will come along eventually. If you blend the lines you would have to clean the blade to match...

I had thought they were rough ground to begin with but after looking at many on the net, I see they were not, not this rough ground anyway. I'm not after perfect and I'm happy with this one, at least until I have a fortune to spend on things. Just figured I'd make it look more like it is supposed to. I may try just filing off the couple of really bad spots first rather than get carried away on the whole edge.
