What are those rolls several guys are carrying? Ain't issue.

Are they sleeping bags? Are they tents?

I mean the smaller ones in the top pic. I see three of them. They look like pads to sleep on.

Could they possibly be their coats rolled up on top of the pack?

Not those either -- look at the guy right in the center foreground, he has one under his left arm. Two guys 4 and 5 back from him also have them. The guy in the back row who is looking right at the camera also has one slung on his back.

Now I see...they DO look like the thermal rest sleeping pads we now issue in Canada...

That would make the photo relatively modern, wouldn't it? Like maybe post-war Germany? Is Elvis in that column someplace? LOL
