    Barrel date ?

    Looking at a Remington #438046 which is a 1918 build, the end of barrel has the H S with flamming bomb but NO date ??? Would it be somewhere else ?

    HS stands for High Standard and it is a WWII replacement barrel.

    no they did not , there were also johnson made replacement barrels used in the rearsenal process , but my understanding is that the JA & HS barrels were very good ones

    JA RIA and HS are WW2 replacement barrels. no dates...most likely done late 44 to 48.
