Interesting article on the state of Milsurps availability and prices.

I probably fit either/both descriptions. At least I will keep my small "accumulation, hord" out of Bubb's unskilled hands as long as I have a pulse.

PS Nice book to have for the horder/accumulator/ collector, whichever label you prefer. $20 & change on Amazon.

I've been using that as a guide for several years now. I figure if I pay less than listed I'm in pretty good shape My edition is three years old.

    Beats "Gun Nut"..LoL

Seriously though, I don't see the lower prices the article talks about at the fun shows. My theory is, a lot of these guys are older and don't realize prices have dropped online since the Progressives got shutdown or they themselves over paid for their inventory and can't come down. A good example is spam can Russianicon 7.62, at the last show I saw $159,, online it's back down to $89 for 440rds. Another is Enfield's both #1 and #4 two years ago $300 to $400 now approaching $600. I've stopped trying to haggle I just laugh to myself and move on.

I don't see the prices going down either. While I am still seeing some Mosin Nagants and I think they are off base on that one, nearly everything else is going up. Even a few I've been checking on Gunbroker just seem to get higher and higher. My price guide is useful to a certain extent. Keeps me paying too much but I don't think it is always reflective of the actual market which tends to be higher most of the time.

I was fortunate enough to have a few bills in my pocket in the early to mid '90's, which I consider to be the heyday of C&R collecting.

    - change it back -
