Doesn't seem to be much discussion on here about them. Any thoughts? I've been researching them a bit and it seems the price has jumped significantly in the past couple of years. Looks like $400 is the bare minimum and odds are more likely to be in the $500-$600+ range.
Is it more desirable to have an early one that most likely saw combat or a cleaner later production. I guess that's up to the individual. 1956 production is first year. The wars were pretty short, days, so maybe not an issue at all.
I've read that you shouldn't use Turk ammo in them but am wondering if that is an issue of not setting the gas port adjustment correctly or a definite no no.
I can remember maybe 5-10 years ago when I wasn't much into milsurps seeing them at my local gun shop for about $200 and thinking they were one really butt ugly rifle but now with my more enlightened vision I think they look pretty nice and with the wood stock they manage to fall into my revised although secondary "list".Information
