Good heavens, is there a barrel buried in there somewhere?
But in 61 years time will anyone be saying '.....in a years time, this will have outlived the Bren?'
The Bren Gun. The longest serving bit of kit in the BritishArmy and STILL going strong elsewhere........
The BR- is obviously BRUNO but I wonder what´s behind the -EN suffix. Was it someone at Enfield?![]()
The original BREN .... Brno design adopted by Enfield = Brno-Enfield = Br-En = BREN
Today ... since hardly anyone west of Karlovy Vary (OK, Karlsbad) can pronounce Czechproperly, they use the historic and, dare I say, renowned name of Bren, even though Enfield no longer plays a part - alas!
At least it still has a curved magazine (even if the wrong caliber) to suggest that it's actually a gun and not an overgrown laser pointer!

So there might well be a market for it somewhere not too far off ....
Has anyone noticed how genuine Bren aficionados' eyes glaze over...?
