Question on Serial Nos

I wonder if anyone can help with information on a serial number starting AZ. It's meant to be on a No4 Mk1. Sorry there are no pictures as the Auction house has not put one up yet.

Any idea if It's a 'Standard' rifle ot a 'Trials' series or where it might have been made?
