    Krag Stock Question

Will a 1898 Sporter stock fit a 1895 sporterized action? The barrel is 22".

Kanterj, Not sure but I don't think there is a Model 1895. (Maybe manufacture date?) What does it say on the left side of the receiver? The receivers of the 1892 1894 and 1896 have extra steel that surrounds the root of the bolt handle--kinda of a u shaped piece that the 1898 does not have. Therefore an 1898 stock will not fit without modifying for the bolt nesting. Salt Flat

Right, and unless you're good at working with wood, it isn't easy to make it look right, but not the most difficult thing in the world either.

Some Kragicon receivers were marked 1895. I'm not certain why. As salt flat says, the early receivers have some extra metal that prevents them slipping into an 1898 stock. You could do it, but it would require quite a bit of knife work. God luck!
