Lost Another Front Sight Pin

2nd time I've lost the pin from this NPM's front sight.
That's what I get....... I guess if I'm too afraid to try some kind of staking.
But who out there wants to attempt staking it and marring up the side of your sight...... Better yet, how does one stake it?

Anyone ever try a drop of Blue Loctite?

Charlie,
I've used Blue Loctite on lots of threaded fasteners like scope mounts. It holds screws tight and still allows removal without much effort.
Use Red Loctite if you want your pin permanently in place. Good luck finding your pin.

Red Loctite is the ticket. You may have to use heat in the future to remove whatever you use it on but, are you ever going to remove the pin? Probably not.

Charlie, Once you have the pin into the sight and it is in the track of the key, then tap the sight down hard enough to lock the pin in the track and the sight. The pin should not move once it's locked in.

I better wait, If I hit anything with a hammer today, it will surely be tooo hard.
Last time this happened to this same carbine, I installed a new lead key and remember having a heck of a time driving in the pin.
Spent the rest of the day with it stripped down and detail cleaned.
Gotta say it was really nice to get out and run 300rds this morning.
And no snow!!! so it was easy to find my brass.

Appreciate the help guys. Calmed me down more than anything.

You could use a hollow tipped punch to do the circular crimp arounf the pin hole. I have some punches that have a holloy divit in the point to use to start roll pins and solid AR taper pins.

I use O.D. Green loctite, you have to look real close to see it!

All kidding aside, Loctite does make a green variety. It will wick into assembled threads and pins. Good stuff, very strong, but not usually at your local hardware store. Try McMaster-Carr.
