KKW cleaning rod and 96 Swedish Mauser

I have an SA Nazi party marked KKW 22 Trainer made by Gustloff Werke. It does not have a cleaning rod and will not accept a standard 98k rod. Does anyone know which rod is correct for it. Also, a dealer has an excellent like new Model 96 Swedishicon blonde stock mauser for sale. He said something about it being special being made in 1924, but I forgot what he said. Is this a special year? He had $750.00 on it, but said he would take $550.00 for it. Is that a fair price?

The Swedishicon 96 was not made in huge numbers in 1924 but I don't believe there is anything special about the year. Final year of production was 1925 so they were ramping down production.

$550 may not be a bad price if it is as you describe, like new. But if it's been refinished, missing a cleaning rod, mixed numbers etc, way too high in my opinion. The Swedes didn't typically abuse their rifles so there are a lot of them in very good or excellent condition and they can still be found in the $300 range if you are patient. Prices have been going up however and it is getting harder to find them at that price. Hard to believe but I paid $125 for mine at a Woolworths many years ago and they had a whole rack of them at that price.

Thanks for the advice. The rifle does look new, no tampering or refurb. I did notice that it looked like the butt plate was in the white. Never seen that on a 96? Could the be original?

"The Swedishicon Mauser Rifles" by Steve Kehaya says they were polished in the white. They were fitted to the stock and machined to fit meaning they have some variance from rifle to rifle.

Ok, then I'll assume that was issue condition. I've dealt with this dealer, and he has been honest as far as I can tell. Thanks for your help!

I have a KKW made by Mauser that was missing the cleaning rod. It is a special cleaning rod, and I found someone that was making them. At this time I have no idea who it was, but an internet search might turn him up.
