My grandfather gave me this knife a long time ago but I never tried to learn anything about it until just recently. It was issued to him while he served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was assigned to an anti-submarine crew that detected subs via aircraft. When looking up this knife, I figured it was a basic m3 fighting knife. But it isn't like those that I have seen. It doesn't have the spear point tip with a blade part way along the top edge of the knife. Instead, it is flat all the way to the point. My Grandfather told me when he gave it to me that the flat end was used to break the canopy of the aircraft in case it were to get stuck. The leather scabbard is also throwing me off. It isn't an m6 scabbard, it is just a plain leather sheath. But that is the way it was issued to him. My guess is that this is a different variant of th m3 fighting knife but I'm not sure. Here are some pictures. tell me what you think.
