Friends-
I have recently purchased a M-1917 Eddystone barreled action. It has been sporterized; hence, the ears are ground off. The Serial Number is 1293636. Now, I understand that later Eddystones, did not have duck ponds, a step that was removed from the machining process. Does the serial number of this receiver fall into that category. I have looked at the rear receiver and I see no telltale signs this one has had a duck pond that has been filled in.
Also, some Eddystone's were criticized because their barrels were screwed into the receivers too tightly, hence, forming micro cracks to the front receiver rings. Was this problem endemic of certain ranges of serial numbers.
Any information or thoughts would be helpful??
Thanks,
