    M1 Garand receiver/barrel wrench

I'm hoping to machine my own barrel/receiver wrench as time allows. Just wondering if anyone has a sketch of the dimensions and such.

For a number of years I used a large adjustable wrench and a penny. Penny went on the top of the receiver ring to protect the finish. Worked like a charm!...

Ahem, I use my USGI barreling machine Sarco had two for sale brand new @ $200, works out to about $1 per pound of weight. In typical government fashion, it only put barrels on, didn't take them off. A bit of judicious filing, however, allowed me to flip the wrench assembly all the way over so it would do both. Great tool that indexes the barrel perfectly.

I made mine out of 1" by 4" by 4" aluminum bar. I made a vise and a wrench. They both bolt on and then the one on the barrel goes into the vise and the one on the action gets the pipewrench. I can index without problem and never marks barrel or action. Had to make them from scratch however...
    Regards, Jim
