No Hole Bayo Band "Stock" ?????

While going through the Barn Wood so far I have found two 1917 Enfield stocks without a hole for the Bayonet Lug Band. Early?? Both are Remington. I have a four digit and maybe this belongs on it ? Rick Bicon

Yep , spare stock . Hole was drilled when nose cap was fitted to rifle . Seen this on Springfield stocks , too.

It has the eagles head and many other inspection marks. Was the Eagles Head only put on for the stock and not final proof? Rick Bicon

An eagle's head can be a sub-inspector's mark or a final inspector's mark depending on placement , time period and type of weapon involved .
