Peter, (or anyone) L1A1 top cover Q.

Pardoning my ignorance and lack of literature on the topic, but were the Lithgowicon made L1A1's imperial or metric? I've got a line on a reinforced top cover fitted with either rings or a rail, but it is imperial. Will it fit? Which would be better- rings or rail? More options with a rail I suppose but would it be getting too high over bore?

    Opinions, please

They are imperial system and should interchange with Britishicon and Canadianicon parts.

If I was you Son, I'd start by bridging the top cover in a manner used by the SUIT and IIW night sight and old No74 sight method. It is a stronger method of mounting a rail or rings. Have a look at one of these methods then take it from there.

Can onyone post a pic of just such a top cover to illustrate the point? If you need a few to practice on, then let me know but don't spoil your original
