Ruger 10/22

I bought a Ruger 10/22 with a Christies adjustable tactical stock and MFT forend grip and picatinny rails, fitted with an ER SHAW 18" bull barrel with match chamber and 11 degree crown.
It also had buffer technologies recoil buffer, power custom competition sear and spring oversize bolt handle and custom spring etc etc all the makings of a great rabbit gun for its flexibility and size.
The down side was I needed a way of carrying more rounds loaded as I had been tasked with mopping up "Bright Eyes" and 200 of his friends in a large sand pit miles from anywhere for a friend, and 10 round mags and 25 round mags in the rain weren't big enough without a lot of hassle whilst swamped with bunnies.
Cutting to the chase:
I bought a PUMA make 50 round drum magazine which worked fantastic on the first 50 rounds fired but thereafter presented a jam every other round or just didn't feed/hop up without problems.
I have now read all the literature and stuff on websites about the drum, and don't seem to be able to find a problem, other than being in the knowledge its all plastic instead of metal magazine lugs holding it in situ correctly or tight enough in the housing. Has anybody else had the same issues and if so how did you remedy the problem, because the rifle does what it says on the box and is outstanding when using authentic Ruger mags, but the PUMA drum mag doesn't?

Have you tried to lubricate the drum. You might want to look at dry lubes.(Graphite)
I would also do a detailed cleaning. .22 are a very dirty round and after 50 shot's there will be alot of carbon/unburnt powder residue.

Might try a Thompson with one of Meryl's .22 conversion kits . I've had mine out in the desert dirt firing over 30 30-rd clips an outing and getting only one jam in 18 mags on the adverage. Cycles at a " normal " full auto rate like a '28 or M1 , around 600 rpm. Not like the 1,000 rpm of a 10/22 conversion or the 1,500 rpm of the American 180 .
Should keep up with the fuzzy-wuzzies.

Thanks Phil/Chris,
Didn't really want to lubricate anything unless stated, but everything I have read so far avoids any form of lubricant, but the law of averages does need some form of lube so I'll see how a gas or dry lube work on it after a clean.
I was more concerned about the moulded plastic lugs on either side, as they don't seem to seat properly, it may be that the gun needs a tad of adjustment as well.
I'll let you know.

It is . When I take it out , it's the life of the party , now . Toss out a handfull of those orange rubber-ish bouncing / rolling targets and the two dozen mags are emptied in no time . If we didn't have to stop and refill , we'd prob'ly have melted the barrel by now . My nephew built and sent me a dueling tree that's a blast with M1911s . I now need a 2nd conversion kit real bad.

All the hi cap mags I have for mine work flawlessly as long as they have metal feed lips. All the ones with plastic feed lips are iffy at best

I'd be tempted to take out a fire pail and put it at about 35 yds. Then watch the holes appear...
