Unknown large capacity oil bottle

Can anyone identify this unmarked soldered sheet steel oiler? Filling is done through the large hole. Size is 3 7/8 inch high, 4 7/8 wide and 1 7/8 inch deep.

I vaguely recall seeing a similar oil bottle and being told it was an olive oil bottle --- French or Italian, I can't remember which.
