I found a Jinsen rifle yesterday that Bubba got ahold of. Price is $200 without negotiating which seems a bit high to me but figured I'd ask for some input.
It is not matching although the last three are 384 on the rifle and 354 on the bolt. Looked several times to see if one or the other was a 5 or 8 and they appear to be exactly what they are.
The receiver and barrel look in excellent condition. The bolt looks off to me. It almost looks cast and it isn't a good casting toward the rear meaning it's like the mold didn't fill. The safety is a rough weld type. Action and safety appear to function normally.
The stock is cut in front of the middle band which is of the monopod type without the monopod. It appears the front band would be of the pinned type as there is a filled groove on the underside of the barrel. There is a rubber pocket butt cap on it which I did not take off to see if the buttplate is wood or steel.
Missing upper hand guard.
Mum is present but has extremely light strikes on it as if they wanted to deface it but just couldn't bring themselves to do so. Polishing would remove them and leave a solid mum if so inclined.
I wouldn't even be thinking about picking this up if it wasn't a Jinsen. A box of ammo comes with it. No tax or transfer fees on this one. What do you guys think?
I see serious problems getting a proper stock for it being most Jinsen's seem very rough. Front barrel band also hard to get. The bolt also has me concerned with the missing metal. I don't believe a school rifle bolt would be serial numbered but this just seems odd.Information
