    Werder Cav. Carbine End Result

I know that 50 metres is not much to brag about. But I´m truly satisfied with what the carbine has achieved (20 rounds within 10 inches and no flyers) and am certain that a real marksman could have reduced the group by at least 50% (if I take too long over a shot, I start seeing two black rings dancing around). There was no cleaning between rounds (but the chamber was on the point of fouling up). So now it´s off to 100 metres.

Keep at it Patrick! Let's see the 100m results soon!

As to the aged eyeballs effect, I find too that if I haven't got a clear aim and fired the shot in about three seconds, the picture all goes to pieces. The only answer is severe self-discipline in NOT firing when the picture fails. Shut your eyes, count to ten, open your eyes and aim again.

tested the carabine with .446 bullets ex rapine mould 355 gn on 10 gn N110 at 100 m ,could hold the 25 m pistol silhouet target ,but aiming was rather difficult to me due to dark weather , (spots didnt work ,old military range ) and my eyes need diafragm glasses for clear view on the sights ,anyway the load was mild and cases didnt need resizing
next test I reload resized .458 to. 452 GC -310 gn bullets and .452- 300 gn heandler natterman with same load ,
    greetings from flanders

@ jarmann: My bullets are home made 320 - 324 grains, cast from a mold made from a cerro cast of the barrel. I still can´t get maself to use anything other than BP (Swissicon No. 2). The grease is all important and I´ve managed to find a source of hard beef lard (although cocnut fat and beeswax is good enough). Suppose the H&Ns might well be a good idea.

Patrick: I find the trick is to focus somewhere else, and then try again. 100 metres can be expensive at the Wannsee range (if the target mechanism gets damaged), so I want to be as precise as possible before I wander off there. Have tried 300 metres but was nowhere near the target with the second sight leaf. But I´ll get there yet. Don´t think that there have ever been any BdMP SPPDG-1 type competitions in the Berlin area.

Note: the Prussian 1870 cartridge case - still looking for an appropriate Bavarian one. Couldn´t even find what it´d look like.
