That MUST'VE been our very own Bren photo maestro, Gev G. Look through his old posts and I'm sure you'll find it.

What is a Mk3/1 by the way? Or do you mean an Indian Army lightweight Mk1 designated the Mk 1/3? Whatever it is, avoid the Mk1 gas cylinder like the plague! Mind you, if it's for occasional use and cleaned properly after shoots and at least every day for a week afterwards it should be OK for ages

Yep, you're right. I have the lightweight Mk1, 1A and 1m guns as Mk3/1's. Not all done at Ishapore as the first were converted at Hyderabad and marked RF-H.

Looking at KevG's photos of the Mk1 and Canadianicon Mk2 gas cylinder has just brought me out in a cold sweat which'll turn into a nightmare if I look at it for much longer. Usually when you start a job, you can start the easy way and up the ante as you go along. You quickly learned that removing one of these from an old well used gun meant diving in at the deep end and using brute force right from the word go! Especially on any of the threadless Mk2 types as there was simply no place to press the.................... Oh. no......, the nightmare is beginning. The issue 'SPANNER, (or was it WRENCH) gas cylinder' was a joke alongside a chocolate tea-pot and a Norton Commando electric starter motor

Believe me, it was even worse that setting up a No2 revolver..............

  8. Thank You to Peter Laidler For This Useful Post:

Is this the post you're looking for? FWIW, check out the beautiful Bren setup on GB if you are into them. NICE.....

Looks like Kev G has you covered with a nice new one.

I am looking forward to seeing how you do the double dovetail splice.
