    American reconnaissance patrol from the platoon of Cpl. Gordon Oeff (front, 3L) (including Pvt. John J. Pershing, front 2L, 3rd cousin to Gen. John "Blackjack" Pershing) pose for a picture after returning from a dangerous mission during the fight for control of New Guinea.

    Interesting mix of weapons. Cpl. Oeff has a C-stock M1903 and the man next to him with field glasses has an 03 too. No slings on a few of them.
