    My impression and not with certainty, appears to be a DKUW with fresh troops in pristine uniforms and web gear. In the out of focus background, the shore of the European theater. From the look in their eyes something quite dramatic has just taken place behind them, though the obvious threat would have been in front of them. Soldiers in the foreground have their heads buried. The guy in the front seat could be a VERY YOUNG Lt. but the mark on his helmet seems a bit wide. Curiously, he is not wearing any web gear or even sidearm. If in fact they are in harms way the driver seems purpose intent on his job getting that slow moving, and vulnerable truck/duck to shore. Mark in Rochester may know the real origin of this photo.

    I think this is a river crossing from what I remember. Maybe the Rhine?
