    RAF Enfield No2Mk1 revolver

I just received this the other day. It is an exceptionally nice looking example of one of these revolvers. It seems very close to original if not in original condition. My main question is the dates as they appear on the pistol vs the barrel. The frame has a 1937 date and the barrel clearly has a '36 stamp. Is it normal for the barrel to precede the rest of the pistol? Their serial numbers do match, so I am assuming so. Thanks for taking a look.

Perfectly normal, I've got a 1930 gun with a '29 barrel and a 1929 gun with a '30 barrel. I also have a number of other No.2s with same anomalies. When you think of a production line it makes sense. Put your self in the place of the guy on the production line. The guy who delivers the inspected barrels just takes a box up and drops them off on the line next to the others, the guy who fits the barrel just picks the next one up and fits it.

Thanks! That was what I thought, but I knew that for some arms, like the M1icon carbine they were making them so fast there are no original ones with a barrel dated before the receiver. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something like that.
