    Rock Island

    New Guy here, Did Rock Island make any National Match rilfes , the one I have Has the Lyman 48 rear sight and the Lyman 17 front sight . ser#365243 but the barrel is dated SA-44, could it be a National Match? it has the C stock

    They did make them during 1919, but yours doesn't sound like it was one. No 1919 NM RIAs had Lyman sights.

    Yep, those Rock Island Arsenal 1919 National Match rifles are Far rarer than Colt Walkers, Colt Pattersons, 1903 Mark I Petersen Devices, Rod Bayonet 1903's, or Honest Politicians.

    1919 Rock Island NMs (and 1919 Springfield NMs, for that matter) did NOT have Type C stocks. They had grasping groove stocks. The Type Cs were a few years down the pike.

    the NM 1919 RIA i had, was in a grasping groove stock, standard Military rear sight, Nick Ferris owns it now..and is pictured in his book.

    Looked in his book, didn't find any picture of a 1919 RIA NM.
