    Remington M1903A3 "Springfield" Rifle

Another piece of WW2 US Military history.

This one is a 1943 Remington M1903A3 rifle. The stock is extremely nice original with all the proper cartouches. Had to switch a few bolt parts to make it 100% correct. Completed the rig with a very nice original Milsco 1944 sling and a Utica Cutlery bayonet.

Looks pretty slick with the bayonet! I can't imagine being on the business end of this war horse!

    Very fine rifle.

The bolt sleeve on the picture is actually a Bay Products contract piece. The firing pin was indeed a smith-corona part. I switched both pieces for the correct Remington parts after I had taken the pictures.

M1903A3's were made by two contractors, Remington Arms Ilion, NY and the LC Smith - Corona Typewriter Co of Syracuse. The SC bolt sleeves have a distinctive profile. The sleeve is that "plug-like" part that screws into the back of the bolt and holds the safety and the firing pin.

Whoops misread the previous post...I thought it said WHAT is a SC bolt sleeve
