    strange type 99 mum removal

I saw a matching type 99 with a removed mum today. It was not the typical ground out or scratched kind. It was neatly removed altogether in a triangle shape and blued. Is there any signifcance to this? Does this have any special meaning? Has anyone else seen anything like it? Thanks in advance.

Sounds as though someone "cleaned up" the crude removal by machining it and rebluing it. I've seen it done on a couple of T99s.

This is indeed what they more than likely did. I have just say a few and in years of buying I have seen this done before in different ways to "make" it sell. Even today, some do not do there homework
before spending those hard earned dollars. Then their sorry in later days. I think we have all been guilty of it.
