    Cleaning M1910 Scabbard Canvas

Need some help on the best (and non-destructive) way to clean the canvas body of a recently acquired M1910 scabbard for the long Springfield bayonet. It appears to be covered in good, old dirt; but, it has been around since 1918 and I want to "first, do no harm". Thoughts and experience? Thanks!

You can slip the canvass off and use some soap and water and then let it dry away from heat. Don't wet the leather if you can help it and use a soft fingernail brush to scrub. Don't replace it for a few days and you're sure it's dry.
    Regards, Jim
