Any idea what the story was behind this picture? All seem to be looking up with some nervous expectation. I wonder what they see?
Don't know, but the cameraman is pretty much exposed.

Takes a lot of dicpline not to drop the Kodak and pick up an M1when the lead is in the wind. Brave lads.
It wouldn't be in his discipline to pick up a rifle. He would likely be a civilian and not a combatant...I think...
