Anyone interested in a brand new Webley MK VI .455

Webley has announced they will begin production of these revolvers if they receive 1000 deposits of $100 each. Final price is predicted at $1000. Go to webleyandscott.com, click on "click here for gunmakers". I'm sure production would be outsourced, but expect Webley would want good quality. I put my name on the deposit list (they're not collecting yet).

    Yes, please.

Why not? Fiocci makes .455 ammunition, and there are loading dies available. Collectibles are too pricy and too many originals have been altered for .45 ACP. Having a new made one would be a fun range gun. That's not to mention the historical connection with the then new-made originals went off to war in Franceicon 100 years ago.

The following information was in response to a inquiry by josquin of the Canadianicon Gun Nuts forum. It is from Roger P Williams, director of Webley and Scott. The first line refers to re tooling lost machinery "You are right, and their are no excuses except to say it is difficult to pick up from one's own errors. The re-starting of production of the Webley MK VI will allow us to offer spares. Do encourage people to sign up....If we cannot get it under $1000, we may not sell enough revolvers to make it a profitable excercise. Ideally $800 dollars is the price that fits, but we are still working on our projected costs and how to distribute it. 1000 signatures will assist....''

I will be interested in seeing how many negative spins the cynics will put on this.

So, getting one to the US will involve jumping through how many hoops?

My guess about how many US Customs/BATFE hoops? Not that many given the vintage of the design and that it is a revolver, the expertise of people like Brian Dickicon and my willingness to pay for service rendered.

They'll have to redesign it with a proper hammer block safety in order for it to even be considered by BATFE FTB for import to the USAicon. They haven't been legally importable since 1968 for this reason. A sample would have to be sent to Martinsburg, WV for testing and approval.

That's brilliant news - I am beyond delighted they're planning to restart production of the Mk VI. I am very tempted to chip in $100 to help them along the way, but I need to know how much (in $AUD) such a gun might eventually cost.

I would also dearly, dearly love for them to re-make the Mk IV in .38 Special (or better yet, .357 Magnum) - if you can get the price right I reckon there'd be a huge market for it, too.
