Couple of interesting No 4's at gunshow.

Evening Gentlemen.

At a local gunshow today, there seemed to be more Lee Enfields than I have seen for years.

Maybe 7 or 8 "Jungle carbines, in various states, all about $5-550 or so Canadian dollars.

Also a No 1 mk 1, chopped, but had wrong cocking piece put on. Marked Enfield 1893, with a very nicely marked 1895 buttstock, Buttplate marked 'M' over 'RA'

Bit rushed so didn't write down details.

Then, another chap had a DCRA target rifle, looked like new, (Long Branch of course) and it had the P-H (no 5?) peep sight set-up, and still had the sling swivel in front of magazine.
He also had a Longbranch No 4(T), all seemed correct , very clean, and well marked. 1944.
Someone had removed the original bases, so he had installed new ones, and had found a reproduction scope of the right type. it came with it in it's own case.

The target rifle was for sale for $850.
The LB (T) with scope $2650.
What does anyone reckon to these prices?

Same gent had a DCRA No4 in .762 Nato. It too looked hardly used.

I have been out of this sphere for too long, so no ideas on prices myself!

Richard: Red Deer show? If so I saw the Long Branch No. 4 T. Some of the markings looked a bit strange to me and I'd be a bit suspicious that it might be a pure replica. If you recorded the serial number I suspect someone on the forum might be able to comment on the likelihood of it being real.

I'm not up on type 'T's at all, so you may very well be right, but the markings on the action were correct and very clean. I'm sorry that I did not record the serial number, but could still get it when the owner gets back home.

Richard: I only glanced at it quickly but I thought I saw a "serif" T on the left body. Looked different from the usual British serif T but certainly unlike the T sometimes applied to LB's. As you probably know, LB "T's" don't have TR, S, or D6E stamps so I hope those weren't in evidence.

What may be confusing this, is that the seller had "two" Snipers rifles on his table;
One was a rifle he had made up to Look like a sniper, (and he stated so right from the start, and price reflected this) and the other as far as I could tell the real deal.

The marking on the one I mention in the above post appeared all correct as far as I could tell, "no 4 Mk1* T, Long Branch".... all very clear and clean.
I may be wrong, but it looked right to me!
