    Sight ID?

    Morning Gents.

    Saw this sight for sale, and it has me wondering;

    The sight marked "Telescope M40. M.H.R.Co 1942 DA. No 1064.
    5.1/4" overall length.

    Anyone recognise it?

    Sorry no picture.

    Richard.

    Is it this group and the one marked M40? The caption says... " Sherman Tank Scopes"...

    By, that was a fast reply, Jim!

    Not one of these pictured, but it does sound like you have ID'd it very well. Thanks for that!

    I never would have thought of a Sherman tank 'scope.

    Thanks Jim,

    Richard.

    Ah! I see what you mean now.

    Looks identical to the one pictured, but I took it that you were asking if it was actually The one in your photo!

    Sorry about that. If you are interested in it, I could PM you the auction -house info.
    (UKicon) Very poor photo though.

    Richard.

    No thanks, it's out of my league. Put a WTS on here though and there are guys that will be interested. I'd have to buy the tank to go with then. There's one available in Ontario for just under $300,000 CDN...I have bought a rifle because I had the bayonet though...this would be worse.

    I just bought a Walther PP because I have a 100 .380 ACP bullets sitting in the cupboard.

    Value of M40 Tank Scope

    I have the same M40 optic, but it reads 1942 vs 1943 as shown in the advertisement. What is the value on these? Attachment 105632Attachment 105633

    I hope I added the pics properly. I am brand new sorry. Any info is much appreciated.

    Yes indeed Jim! There's a lot more bits to a tank than a rifle, and harder to keep under the bed. A 50 GBP sight could be anyone's undoing if they buy the rest of the kit!

    Reminds me of a true story;
    A low-loader was taking a tank to or from Catterick Camp, (Yorks) and on a tight corner, it got away, and rolled off, through a fence into a garden, and stopped on the lawn;
    A lady came out the house, looked a bit shocked and shouted to the driver, "No!...It's not mine,...I never ordered it!".
    (Read it in the Dalesman years ago, so must be reet.)

    It's private property...and no, you can't come get it! (Act of God)
