They also utilized German prisoners in WWI to remove wounded troops in one instance a German shell landed among such a group of 12 waiting at the front to go and bring back the wounded to the rear and decimated the lot of them sort of a blue on blue bit of a tough luck for them hoping the war was over for them only to be pressed into service by the Allies and killed by their own kin folk.
