Ithaca question

Am looking at an Ithaca ser. #12783xx which seems correct except for the fact that it has a 7 rib MSH. As far as I can tell, 1943's should have a checkered MSH. Am I missing something, or is this most likely a replacement housing?

Ithaca serial number 12783XX dates to April of 1944, and would be correct with the serrated mainspring housing.
