It's the bayonet mount and front brace for a Remington military shotgun. There were two types, one with a bead only and this one with a Remington sight. They're worth good money, almost unavailable.

Yes sir. It's part of a Remington 870 Mk1 bayonet adapter. You will need a magazine extension to make it work.

Maybe.... The adapter came on a 21" rifle sight 'S' dated barrel, which I assume is the barrel the adapter was on originally. A buddy bought it for $13 at a yard sale and gave it to me since he knew I was into old shotguns. I didn't know what it was either, but did some research and found out what it was, and what it's worth. Yes, I told my buddy and will compensate him fairly. Now I'm gathering the rest of the parts to build a Mk1 clone, and I do need a mag extender, vintage with some patina.

Like was noted earlier, the bayo adapter and plain fore end are the tough pieces. I started to put it together piecemeal, but it looks like it will be cheaper to buy a donor gun.

This $13 gift is going to cost me some coin.... Heck, two weeks ago I didn't even know the
    USMC used 870s....

Did these come parked originally, and what finish is correct for the trigger assembly and bolt?

There's a demonstrator gun around here somewhere...if you look back in these posts. I think I can find a couple pics...

You can see both guns are parked, the only bolt pic is bright. There are the two variations here...

Thanks for the pics. I'm having a hard time locating a plain fore end and the rear sight leaf. Numrich lists an 'old style' rear sight with no picture, the rear leaf without the eye piece, and the elevation ramp. I thought about taking a chance and ordering the sight in hopes it's the right one.

I'll bet if you place a WTB here, these guys will have it. They even know what you're talking about, which helps.
